We’re incredibly proud of them both for putting in the training, taking on the challenge and making it across that finish line.
Even better, they weren’t running just for themselves. They took part to raise money for two fantastic charities:
Tommy’s – helping to support people affected by pregnancy and baby loss and funding vital research to make pregnancy safer.
St Cuthbert’s Hospice – providing specialist care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families.
Two brilliant causes that make all those training miles, early mornings and hard-earned kilometres even more worthwhile.

The Great North Run stands as the world’s largest and most iconic half marathon, attracting over 60,000 runners to the North East of England each year. First staged in 1981 with 12,000 eager participants, the event was founded by Olympic medalist Brendan Foster and has since grown into a monumental British sporting tradition.
The famous 13.1-mile course takes runners from the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, across the iconic Tyne Bridge, through Gateshead, and down to the coastal finish line in South Shields. Over its celebrated four-decade history, millions of runners—from world-class elite athletes to everyday heroes raising vital funds for charity—have crossed the finish line, making it a powerful showcase of athletic achievement and community spirit.
What makes the event truly extraordinary is its unmatched atmosphere and massive scale. Spectators line the streets in their hundreds of thousands, filling the air with cheers, brass bands, and ice lollies to power runners through the coastal miles, while millions more tune in to watch the live national broadcast.
Reaching its millionth finish line milestone in 2014—the first mass-participation event in the world to do so—the run continues to bring together people from every corner of the globe. It is a spectacle defined by charity vests, local pride, and the spectacular flypast of the Red Arrows over the Tyne Bridge, representing the very best of North East culture and endurance.
At Housd, we are immensely proud to have had members of our own team take on the challenge and represent us on the course. Watching our colleagues dedicate months of early morning training, push through those final coastal miles, and cross the finish line in South Shields reflects the exact energy, resilience, and community commitment we value as a company.
It was an honour to cheer them on, support their personal fundraising milestones, and celebrate their incredible achievement alongside thousands of others on race day.
